The evaluation of the economic sectors in Riga has been performed for the purpose of defining the most competitive industries for promotion of the long-term development and increase of competitiveness of the city by considering the present economic situation, human resources, infrastructure, geographic position and other criteria.
The research discovered that out of the most significant industries of the world the one most competitive in Riga at present is food production, followed by healthcare and production of metal products. The highest potential competitiveness is presented by production of metal products, followed by food production, computer technologies as well as professional, scientific and technical services. Chemicals industry is on a comparatively bad position requiring improvement of several factors to guarantees its high competitiveness.
Development of the research was managed by the experts of Baltic Consulting” Artūrs Kokins and Kaspars Vingris in cooperation with the experts of SIA „PKC” Jānis Zvīgulis and Artūrs Kovaļevskis.
