HIADEX – Marketing intelligence and early stage promotion activities for the HIgh ADded value products EXport
The main objective of the project is to increase export capability of Estonian and Latvian producers.
Project aims to support producers of high added value products for prevention and treatment of digestive system diseases (DSDs) by building marketing intelligence on the Singaporean and Malaysia’s market via implementing early-stage promotion activities there.
The specific objectives of the project are to:
- Visit two industry-specific fairs in Singapore and Malaysia (one in each market) with joint trade missions of Estonia-Latvia region entrepreneurs;
- Develop and produce promotional materials both printed and audio-visual for above mentioned trade missions;
- Obtain market intelligence about Singaporean and Malaysian markets in segments of food supplements and pharmaceutical products;

The main objective of the project is to increase export capability of EE and LV producers of high added value products for prevention and treatment of DSDs by building marketing intelligence on the Malaysia’s market and implementing early-stage promotion activities. The project is designed to combine mutually complementary knowledge and competences of project partners to provide support to SMEs in the programme area for reaching new export market. Taking pharmaceutical and nutritional supplement industry as an example it is expected to develop guidelines for export to Malaysia and Singapore that will be applicable for other industries and to increase project partners’ institutional capacity to improve their quality of services and to support enterprises for export development.
The main activities of the project:
- Building marketing intelligence on the Malaysia’s and Singapore’s markets, i.e., analysing market, developing market entry strategy;
- Development of a joint product portfolio for export to Malaysia and Singapore and marketing (promotion) materials;
- Early-stage promotion activities in Asia like fairs and B2B meetings to establish trade links and to promote selected products.
The marketing intelligence on the target markets will be built by carrying out research of pharmaceutical and nutritional supplement industry market to evaluate feasibility of exporting, to identify most perspective products in Latvia and Estonia. Research will provide inputs for development of a market entry and marketing that both will help to ensure early stage of entering into the market in the most effective manner. A joint product portfolio consisting from Latvian marketing that both will help to ensure early stage of entering into the market in the most effective manner. A joint product portfolio consisting from Latvian and Estonian products will be developed and adapted to Malaysia’s and Singapore’s markets. Developed marketing materials like brochures and audio-video clip(s) will be used in early-stage promotion activities in Malaysia and Singapore. It is expected to arrange up to 20 B2B meetings.
Total project budget: 346’010 EUR
Total ERDF co-financing: 294’108,50 EUR
BC project budget: 124 232.00 EUR (eligible costs), 105 597.20 ERDF co-financing (85% from the eligible costs).

HIADEX kick-off meeting

HIADEX Kick-off meeting took place in the SPARK House at Narva str. 3, Tartu, Estonia, on 9 May 2017. The meeting was opened by Project manager Vaido Mikheim (Tartu Science Park). It was attended by the project partners and other stakeholders. The objective of the meeting was to officially launch the project, to review the objectives and structure of the project and its challenges, to remind the partners of their involvement in the different WPs and priority tasks for the 1st period and administrative issues.

[1] Latvian and Estonian product exhibition in Vitafoods Asia 2017, incl. ~ 3000 disseminated promotion materials. Presented pharmaceutical and nutritional supplement products produced by companies from Latvia – “SilvExpo”Ltd., “Biolat JSC”, “CLS Technology” Ltd., and companies from Estonia – “CHAGA”OU, “BioCC LLC”.
[2] B2B meetings with companies from different Asia’s regions – meetings and discussions with 31 companies, incl. 1) Introduction with Life Science cluster of Latvia and SMEs; 2) discussion about SMEs products: generic, food supplements, cosmetics; 3) information about regulatory requirements in country; 4) next steps – potential cooperation.
